Casey
Neurologist (MD)
Casey Vickstrom graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University in 2014 with a B.A. in Biological Sciences with Honors. He is currently enrolled in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD) at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he is a third-year medical student after completing his PhD in Neuroscience in 2020.
Casey’s doctoral research focused on uncovering the neural circuits influenced by endocannabinoids and how they regulate anxiety and depressive behaviors in mice. His broader scientific interests center on understanding the biological mechanisms underlying neurological diseases, with the long-term goal of identifying new therapeutic targets to prevent or treat these conditions.
He also has extensive experience tutoring students preparing for USMLE Step 1, providing guidance grounded in his deep scientific training. Casey plans to pursue neurology or another neuroscience-related clinical specialty.
In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing and soccer, and loves spending time with family, friends, and his dog.
